Composers: Eric Burton Davis, Dawn Erridge, Pablo Martinez
Librettists: Noah McCreadie, Rebekah King, Hannah Hayden
Director: Sophie Daneman
Musical Director: Hilary Punnett
An evening of bold, bizarre and darkly comic opera from emerging composers and librettists. Brought to life by students of the Royal Academy of Music, Peeled Back is a triple bill of brand-new chamber operas, each confronting crisis. From psychological thrillers to surreal satire, expect a night of high drama, vivid storytelling, and unexpected laughs.
In Get Your Licks In, a vengeful diner teams up with her waitresses to plot bloody revenge on her cheating husband. The Truth of This, inspired by Matthew Hopkins’ 17th-century witch trial records, explores isolation, invention, and perception as one woman circles her cell, awaiting judgment. And, in the absurdly philosophical Peel, three sentient bananas sing about mortality and the invisible hand of fate (as it reaches towards the fruit bowl).
